Toronto, Canada • 1975-1977
Fable was the Canadian heavy rock band that coalesced from the raw energy of Hell Hound into a more melodic and narrative-driven force in the mid-1970s. After three years as Hell Hound, the band shifted base from Victoria, British Columbia, to Toronto and donned the name Fable as a fresh start in their career.
The transition was not only in name but in tone. Influenced by the same rock heavyweights-Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, and Led Zeppelin-Fable retained heaviness and power from their roots, embracing a broader, more dynamic sound. With Glen Politano, Gary Anderson, and later Phil Parmentier, Fable melded the emerging heavy metal style with vivid storytelling and melodic depth.
In 1975, the band recorded their sole album, Get the "L" Outta Here, a reflection of their independence and dedication to their craft. While industry pressures often stifled creativity, Fable charted their own path, capturing their vision on their own terms.
The live performances by Fable, with an electrifying effect and never-relenting drive, placed the band right at the forefront of Canadian heavy rock, while their music now stands tall as a testament to the innovativeness and passion of the band.
