Galaxis

Duisburg, Germany • 1971-1975

Emerging from Duisburg in 1971, Galaxis was a powerhouse of the German hard rock scene, known for their crushingly heavy live performances. Influenced by Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple, their sound was an electrifying mix of driving rhythms, soaring vocals, and thunderous riffs. This six-man collective—Wolfgang Chilla (vocals), Claus de Crau (guitar), Wolfgang Richter (bass), Edgar Geffroy (drums), Holger Kampmann (roadie), and Ewald Phillips (manager/technician)—brought raw energy and camaraderie to every performance.

Galaxis quickly climbed the ranks of the regional music circuit, sharing stages with legends like Scorpions, Eloy, and UFO. Their repertoire featured original tracks alongside carefully chosen covers such as Black Sabbath’s “Sweet Leaf.” Highlights of their career include an iconic open-air show with UFO and a tour in Majorca.

Their rare 1974 single, “Someone Needs Your Love” b/w “True Experience,”  became a collector’s gem, encapsulating their heavy, unfiltered sound. Though the band disbanded in 1975, their legacy endures. A new retrospective release, featuring the single and unreleased demos, preserves their pioneering spirit. Galaxis invites you to rediscover a time when rock was pure, friendships were strong, and possibilities felt limitless. Turn it up and experience Galaxis’ ultra-heavy rock revival.
