Mayroc was a short-lived heavy rock trio formed in 1974, and it represented the first foray into heavy music for guitarist and vocalist Bari Watts, years before his celebrated work with Outskirts of Infinity and The Bevis Frond. Along with bassist Rich Borrell and drummer Ric Gunther, the band recorded their lone track, "Lovin Fire," during a quick two-hour session at Studio Republic in Pinner, North West London. The recording produced just three acetate discs and stands as the only artifact of Mayroc's brief existence.

It was thus described as “the nucleus of things to come" by Bari, since it captures those raw, unfettered first steps on this creative path, which would henceforth be broached later in his projects dealing with psychedelia and hard rock. Paced by Watt's guitar along with Borrel/Gunther rhythm, Mayroc showed touches in sound and experiment that would emanate from subsequent work in his projects later.

Although the band broke up shortly after the recording, the chemistry between Bari and Ric would bring them together again in the 1980s with Outskirts of Infinity. “Lovin Fire” remains a rare glimpse into the early stages of Bari Watts’ journey in heavy and psychedelic rock.
