Michael Turner In Session was an Australian hard rock outfit that captured the raw energy of the early 1970s Melbourne music scene. Fronted by vocalist Michael Turner, whose powerhouse voice gained him national fame, the band formed in 1970 when Turner joined the group "Session," which quickly incorporated his name. The lineup featured Phillip Stone on guitar, Paul Olsen on drums, and Bill Sclater on bass. After relocating from Brisbane to Melbourne, Australia's rock epicenter, they signed with Havoc Records.

The band gained momentum with their electrifying live performances, including a legendary set at the inaugural Sunbury Rock Festival in 1972 where they played to 50,000 fans. Their peak was further highlighted by a live TV performance on GTK in 1971. Unlike typical lip-synced television appearances of the time, this live recording showcased the band’s true grit and musical prowess.

Despite releasing the single “Just Around Midnight” b/w “Pattern of My Life,” with Havoc, the band disbanded in 1973 when Turner returned to Brisbane. Michael Turner In Session remains an emblem of Australia’s vibrant early rock scene and the musical drive of the era.
